That Little Ol' Band from Texas has had the same three guys for a long time - the amazing Billy Gibbons on vocals and guitar, Dusty Hill thumping his bass and crankin' out vocals and the beardless Frank Beard on drums. Forty years together with the same three guys - an extremely rare distinction.

They scored many hit songs the ‘70s and ‘80s, many of which are included in most Buffalo Chip campers’ CD, vinyl, and even 8-track libraries; and remain together today, still touring and releasing albums. They were inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Music biographer Cub Koda wrote, "As genuine roots musicians, they have few peers; Gibbons is one of America's finest blues guitarists working in the arena rock idiom ... while Hill and Beard provide the ultimate rhythm section support."

Of course, it is no surprise or disappointment to the Sturgis Rally’s Buffalo Chip campers that their song lyrics often feature sexual innuendo and humor.

Gibbons and Hill continue to wear their trademark biker beards as well as their sunglasses, which are a nod to their 1979 hit, “Cheap Sunglasses.”  The Gillette Company once offered the two $1 million to shave for a television commercial.  They Just like the freedom-loving Sturgis Rally bikers and Buffalo Chip campers from the past, ZZ Top has seen a lot of this country. After forming, they toured continually for several years and finally gained wide attention with their third album, Tres Hombres, which contained the classic “La Grange,” a reference to the bordello that would become the subject of the musical The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

They took an extended hiatus in 1977 reuniting two and a half years later to begin recording for Warner Brothers. In 1983 they struck gold again with Eliminator, which contained “Gimme All Your Lovin,” “Legs,” and “Sharp-Dressed Man,” each of which featured a ’34 Ford 3-window coupe in their trio of mysterious blockbuster videos.

The band has continued a successful recording and touring schedule.
