Sturgis Rally Buffalo Chip fans with VIP upgrades may get to meet concert stars
We understand the desire for the fans to meet their favorite artists and the artists' and production companies' needs to avoid crowding and chaos backstage.
Buffalo Chip stage manager finds the way
The Chip's stage manager built a way to accommodate the fans and the artists. He constructed a secured side stage area located within a few feet of where the artists' busses will be parked. There is an artist-exclusive entrance which allows any artist to walk through the door to meet his fans in this intimate and controlled environment whenever he pleases.

Here's how this will work. Admissions into the private Fans' Reception Area will commence one half hour before the artist is to take the stage. This may change if the artist expresses a desire to meet and greet at an earlier time, which would then be posted on a board in the amphitheater. Remember that the artist alone makes the decision whether he will enter and do a meet and greet and, if so, for how long he will make himself available. The Chip will facilitate, but has no control over whether it will happen.
Food, beverage and a special expierence for Sturgis Rally goers at the Chip
The Fans' Reception Area will provide complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages. The fans will be privileged to hang out there until conclusion of their artist's show. Their artist's performance may be viewed from the box seating actually located on the sound wing of the stage or from standing in the special reserved area immediately stage front.
Space is limited so make your reservations now for the 2009 Sturgis Rally
Note that the box seating is limited to 40 seats and is occupied by the first 40 who wish to take a seat. Seats will not be saved or reserved. When someone leaves the seating area, another person will be permitted to take that seat. It is available from the stage-front viewing area and the fans may walk back and forth.
You'll also, during the time mentioned, have unrestricted stage-front access. This means access to the PDC (pretty damn close) area in front of the main stage. This as an area directly in front of the stage between the general audience and the stage. It's approximately 8 foot deep and extends the full 108 foot width of the stage and sound wings. This is SRO and there is no seating.
Space is shared with some backstage campers. There will be sufficient space for all. However, everyone may want to be in the same place at the same time. It will be most crowded during shows by the most famous artist, which is also the time when you will want to be in the same space as the next guy. You can come and go at will with your pass, but access to the PDC area may be precluded by capacity limits.
